hie.... saya nak tanya sikit...
nasaan ka? ( where are you? )
ilang taon ka na? ( how old are you? )
dlm bahasa english, are you in both sentence berada di bahagian belakang, tapi dlm bahasa tagalog beza.
soalan saya... boleh tak saya tulis ayat seperti begini.
1) saan ka na?
macam ayat ilang taon ka na
ataupun
2) nailang taon ka?
macam ayat nasaan ka

macam ayat nasaan ka OK seperti yg diterangkan dulu...tagalog biasanya meletakkan object dibelakang.. and dalam case ni "KA" (you)
nasaan ka? (dimana kau/awak)
saan ka na.... (dimana kau ...)
maksud NA disini adalah "SEKARANG" Edited by MJang2 - 21Apr2008 at 7:31am |

HOW TO USE THE PARTICLE "BA"
Please note that BA is only used for questions that must have a yes or no answer. BA should come after the subject in a regular sentence structure and after the predicate in the inverted sentence structure
eg:
1. May problema ka ba? (do you have a problem?)
you can answer "oo" / "opo" (yes)
or you can answer "wala"/ "wala po" (no/tak ada)
2. Pupunta si Lina sa KL bukas (Lina is going to KL tomorrow...statement)
Pupunta ba si Lina sa KL bukas? (Is Lina going to KL tomorrow? ...question)
Tapi ada masa-masa kita akan terdengar mereka menyebut ANO BA? (Especially bila a girl trying to get away from a bad guy)
Maksudnya .... Apa ni? ataupun What are you trying to do to me?
Ada masa juga kita akan terdengar ...ANO BA YAN? (ANO BA IYAN?)
Maksudnya...Apa tu? ataupun What's that? Edited by MJang2 - 04Sep2008 at 9:07pm |

HOW TO USE THE PARTICLE NGA (disebut "ngak")
Particle ini digunakan dengan beberapa cara.
1. Ia digunakan untuk memberikan affirmation atau extra emphasis kepada sesuatu statement
Contohnya:
Lisa: Mabait sya (Dia baik)
Jane: Oo nga mabait sya (ya/betul dia baik)
Atau maksud paling mudah "ya tak ya juga"
2. Ada masa ia digunakan juga sebagai tanda untuk challenge the other speaker
Contohnya:
Lisa: Lalabanin kita (Aku akan lawan kau)
Jane: Sige nga (cubalah)
3. Nga juga boleh digunakan untuk membuat permintaan secara polite
Contohnya:
Sarhan mo nga ang pinto (Tolong tutup pintu)
ayat ini juga boleh ditulis begini (Paki sarhan ang pinto)... Paki maksudnya (tolong, please)
Mag-aral ka nga (belajarlah/ kau belajarlah)

congrats! do you have a tour guide there?
wag kang matakot...u'll be ok there. The thing you have to remember is the food. If you're a muslim than it would be safer to tell them about your food preference)
walang baboy (no pork)
walang chicharon (..this is like 'keropok' made with pork skin)
walang longanisa (sausage)
most of the time their food contain meat or pork items.... so you can ask for
isda (fish)
hipon (shrimp)
pusit (sotong)
alimasag/talangka (crab)
kalau nak order food...I think you should try Escabeche (sweet and sour fish), Sinigang (ask for fish or shrimp...this is a type of tom yam cuma tak pedas) kalau nak anything goreng just ask for 'piniritong' (FRIED) isda or any food items.
If you're going to other parts of the philippines, it would be easier to use English since dialect dia orang berbeza-beza... lagi satu masa travel janganlah pakai jewelries and be prepared dengan traffic jams dalam Manila

Originally posted by Before we get started with the lesson, I would like to apologize since I'm using both Bahasa Melayu and English in my explaination....just want to make the lessons as simple as I could and easy for everyone to understand... and actually this is how I learn to master the language
LESSON 1 - SIMPLE GREETINGS/EXPRESSIONS
Magandang Araw po (ma-gan-dang a-rau) = Selamat Pagi/Selamat Siang
Magandang Umaga po (ma-gan-dang u-ma-ga) = Selamat Pagi

Magandang Gabi po (ma-gan-dang gab-be) = Selamat Malam
Maligayang bati (ma-li-ga-yang ba-tik) = Happy Birthday
Mabuhay (ma-bu-hai) = long live/hidup
Note: I'm using Po (pok) at the end of the sentence to show the polite/formal way of talking to other people especially people you just met, or people who are older than you
Kumusta po kayo? (ku-mus-ta pok ka-yo) = How are you? (formal)
Kumusta? (ku-mus-ta) = How are you? (informal)
Mabuti po naman (ma-bu-te pok na-man) = I'm fine (formal)
Mabuti naman (ma-bu-te na-man) = I'm fine (informal)
Maraming salamat po (ma-ra-ming se-la-mat pok) = Thank you very much...
Salamat po (se-la-mat pok) thankyou
Walang pong anuman (walang anuman) (wa-lang anu-man) = You're welcome/don't mention it
Tuloy po kayo (tu-loi pok ka-yo) = Silakan masuk
Maupo kayo (ma-u-pok ka-yo) = Silakan duduk (formal)
Maupo ka (ma-u-pok ka) = Silakan duduk (informal)
Kumain na po ba sila (ku-ma-in na pok ba si-la) = Dah makan ke? (formal)
Kumain ka na ba? (ku-ma-in ka na ba) = Dah makan ke? (informal)
Ano po pangalan nila? (a-no pok pang-nga-lan ni-la) = What is your name? (formal)
Anong pangalan mo? (a-nong pang-nga-lan mo) = What is your name (informal)
Ako po si..... (a-ko pok si) = my name is.....
Ilang taon na po kayo? (i-lang ta-on na pok ka-yo) = How old are you? (formal)
Ilang taon ka na? (i-lang ta-on ka na) = How old are you? (informal)
Taga saan po kayo? (ta-ga sa-an pok ka-yo) = Where are you from? (formal)
Taga saan ka? (ta-ga sa-an ka) = Where are you from (informal)
Saan po kayo nakatira? (sa-an pok ka-yo na-ka-ti-rah) = where do you live (formal)
Saan ka nakatira? (sa-an ka na-ka-ti-rah) = where do you live (informal)
Opo / Oho (o-pok / o-hok) = yes (formal)
Oo (o-o) = yes (informal)
Hindi po = (hin-dik pok) no (formal)
Hindi ko po alam (hin-dik ko pok a-lam) = I don't know (formal)
Hindi ko alam (hin-dik ko a-lam) = I don't know (informal)
Ewan ko (e-wan ko) = I don't know (informal)
It's very common to use English terms in greetings....like Hi, Hello, Bye, Congratulations, NIce to meet you...Ini yang biasa digunakan
Paalam muna ako (pa-a-lam mu-na ako) or Alis muna ako (a-lis mu-na a-ko) = Saya minta diri dulu (informal)
Congrats sa kasal nyo (congrats sa ka-sal nyo) = Congratulations on your wedding
Congrats ha! = congratulaions
Sometimes you will come across few words ...very informal ones yang digunakan oleh forumners to express how they feel
Grabe! (gra-beh) = dahsyatnya!
Hanep! (ha-nep) = lagi dahsyat (hahaha)
Kilig (ki-lig) = so happy to see (giddy)
to be continued... I'm Filipino and I just came across this one and I just want to say that the pronunciation of po is not pok. you can pronounce it as poh but you have to say it quick. And kilig by the way, is being happy because of being in love or idea of being in love (such as when someone you like gives you flowers or you see two people that are in love and you feel you can relate or imagine youself in their situation). Just be careful of cons (con artists). we have lots of them (oh well, they are present everywhere, not only in the Philippines). If you are lost or need anything, talk to policemen, security guards, hotel receptionists, salesmen, store owners, etc. Don't talk to bystanders, they are most likely just waiting for somebody to con. When you ride the taxi, make sure you have a local to go with you, taxi drivers are likely to cheat you by going in circles before arriving in your destination and you'll end up paying a huge fare on the meter reading. there are lots of good hearted Filipinos however, we are loving and hospitable people in general. but you have to know to spot a good one. just be vigilant and have a good presence of mind when you go around. ![]() |
